“Delivery firms cost us more than they make” says Selale Restaurant

Selale restaurant is making a loss because of high commission rates charged by Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

Delivery firms are more trouble than they’re worth, a North London restaurant manager has said.

Kadir, who works at Selale Restaurant on Harringay Green Lanes told BritShish the restaurant is running at a loss because of the exorbitant commission rates charged by delivery firms Uber Eats and Deliveroo on top of taxes and general business running costs.

Kadir said “We are a restaurant in north London. Normally our capacity is like 300 people, but because of the coronavirus we just only do takeaway for now.

“Now we are working for Uber Eats and Deliveroo but we are not happy at all with them because they charge us nearly 30% of delivery charge.

“Plus we pay for VAT as well, rates for staff, for food, they cost us more than our profit and that’s why we are not happy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo.”

Selale Restaurant now runs its own discounted delivery service for local customers from its website.
